1. WELCOME
Welcome to the very first issue of Avatar Studio's electronic
newsletter called AVATAR TRACKSHEETS. Our intent is to keep you up
to date on what is happening at our studios and let you know of any
new service offerings that you might be interested in. Please
provide us with any feedback on what you would like to see in the
newsletter. Thank your for supporting Avatar and enjoy the issue!!
2. TEC AWARD NOMINATION
Avatar Studios has been nominated for a 2002 TEC Award for
Outstanding Creative Achievement in the Record Production / Album
category for being the studio where Diana Krall's The Look of Love
was recorded. The album was engineered and mixed by Al Schmitt who
already won a Grammy (his 11th) for Best Engineered Album,
Non-Classical category for the same title earlier this year.
The Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards is the foremost program
recognizing the achievements of audio professionals. Presented
annually by the Mix Foundation for Excellence in Audio, the TEC
Awards celebrates the individuals, companies and technological
innovations behind the sound of recordings, films, TV shows and
concert performances. The 18th Annual TEC Awards will be held on
Monday, October 7, 2002,
at the Wilshire Grand Hotel in Los Angeles.
3. NEW GEAR / INSTRUMENTS
=> New Pro Tools HD system now available!
Avatar has a new Pro Tools HD rig available for rent in sessions.
Check out the specs at
http://www.AvatarStudios.net/gear/protools.html.
=> Steinway B Piano now available!!
We now have a Steinway B piano, alongside our Yamaha C7, available
for sessions in Studio A and Studio C. Be sure to ask Tino if you
are interested in using either of these two top-of-the-line pianos.
4. TRACKING TO DSD
=> Avatar Studios now offers you the option of digitally recording to
2-track DSD or 8-track DSD at the same time you are tracking to tape.
By doing this, you have the option to be able to release your
recording in SACD format in the future. DSD, or Direct Stream
Digital, is a new and improved method of converting music into the
digital domain, sampling at 2.8224 MHz. This results in a frequency
response from 0 Hz to beyond 100 kHz, and a dynamic range greater
than 120 dB. It may just save you a lot of time and give you more
marketing options in the future. Contact
mailto:Tino@AvatarStudios.net?subject=dsd_from_newsletter.
